Therapy for Depression

Life is at a standstill – slow and worrisome.

The pain is real, but your potential and promise are limitless. First, let me assure you that I understand.

Nothing you have tried seems to work or make things feel better. It feels like the entire world is on top of you, and you cannot see any relief. It has been dark for so long that you have forgotten what it was like to see the light.

You struggle with your own inner thoughts that torment you. “Why can’t I get it together? Will I ever feel better? Can I ever get any relief?”

Relief seems impossible to obtain, no matter what you do. You may struggle with isolation because you feel like a burden.

Therapy can offer relief from depression.

I want you to know two things. First, I see you. African Americans struggle with depression for all the reasons of everyone else, plus having to deal with generational trauma, health disparities, and institutional racism. Second. There is help and hope to feel better. I can see both your pain and your inner strength and potential that you feel like you have lost.

Consider me a navigator who helps guide you from the crippling darkness of depression to the light, positive self-worth, and healthy relationships. I use my personal traits of empathy and compassion to help you feel at ease while exploring the issues that brought you to therapy.

My approach to therapy involves tailoring the therapeutic style to the unique characteristics of the individual, combining them with possible therapeutic styles. This may be helping you to challenge the distorted thoughts that are contributing to your depression.

I combine your innate strengths and abilities to help you to devise solutions to your problems and learn how to love the parts of yourself that are hurting. We will work together to change how you see your story.

Overcome depression and start moving forward again.

My goal is to help you move beyond your inner pain of the past and present into the promise of generational wealth, characterized by good mental health, healthy relationships, and the fulfillment of your potential.

You are worth the effort that it will take to do something different and create the change necessary to achieve the life you long to have.

Past pain and present circumstances do not have to dictate your current feelings or prospects.
