About Therapy

This time is all about YOU.
It takes great courage to seek help from a therapist to achieve the desired changes. That’s okay. I know this because I have done my work with my therapist. The good news is that it is worth the effort.
As a therapist, I consider myself a navigator who helps my clients navigate their complex thoughts, emotions, and events to a better place.
I aim to create an accepting therapy environment where clients can feel comfortable exploring what brought them to therapy.

My approach is eclectic.
When working with clients, I consider their situation, strengths, and circumstances and use one of the many therapy styles I know to help them achieve their goals. My goal is to empower you with the tools and mindset to move from the difficult emotions you are currently dealing with to a better place and get the desired therapy results.
I want to know all of you, including your strengths, weaknesses, hurts, and successes. All that you have been through makes you unique and special. The different parts of your life are like a priceless mosaic painting that makes you a one-of-a-kind treasure.
It is my goal to help you learn to let go of the generational trauma and relationship patterns you may be struggling with so that you can achieve the good mental health you desire.

About Herbert Lomax, LCSW

Being a therapist is more than a job.
It’s a passion! I get a sense of fulfillment from helping my clients reach their goals.
Being a therapist is a passion of mine because I see myself as a wounded healer. I have had to work through my own trauma in my life, and it gives me a sense of fulfillment to help other people do the same.
I love to give back to people and help them be their best selves. I consider this part of my calling.
Training is essential to consider.
My Master’s degree in Social Work is from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville in 2015. I have experience working as a social worker/therapist in the community, at the VA hospital, and in private practice. I have been a licensed social worker for over eight years.
I have an eclectic style as I use several different modalities. Some of the modalities I use as a therapist are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
I try to meet the client where they are and use the approach that works best for the moment.
When not working as a therapist…
When not spending time with my family, I enjoy listening to music, going to restaurants, playing the saxophone, and attending comedy shows.
